In this short video, I'm going to show you guys how to install CWCheat on your PSP 1000-3000 with version 6.XX of Custom Firmware. Database (Original one, do.
PSP homebrew application that allows you to install all CFWs for 6.xx, just choose CFW you need and it will install copy the CFW you choose to your PC, then you can COPY/PASTE to your PSP
'
Installation
Now it's time to install the CFW into your system.
Grab the Download and unpack it. You will find two (or three, if you got the 6.20 / 6.39 / 6.60 version) folders of interest which you will use to install and operate the CFW.
Grab the Download and unpack it. You will find two (or three, if you got the 6.20 / 6.39 / 6.60 version) folders of interest which you will use to install and operate the CFW.
- PROUPDATE - Application to install CFW
- FastRecovery - Application to QuickStart CFW
- CIPLFlasher - Application to install a CIPL-based permanent Bootloader (for 1g and 2g-first gen units only)
- Copy all of them onto your PSP inside the PSP/GAME subfolder and disconnect your PSP from PC.
- Start the PROUPDATE Executable to install the CFW, delete it afterwards, you won't need it again unless you wish to uninstall PRO CFW again.
The same applies for 6.39 / 6.60 Kernel Version of PRO CFW, but using the CIPLFlasher application.
Note: Holding L Button during installation will reset your configuration to default and rewrite all the Aftermarket Modules.
Daily Use
- You have installed the PRO CFW on your PSP as described above. Now it's time to learn how to use it efficiently.
After the installation, you will be QuickStarted into the CFW environment automatically, however, in the future you will have to boot it manually every time you shutdown and restart your PSP.
Due to the PSPs security design, it's not possible for all PRO CFW versions to QuickBoot automatically everytime you turn on your system.
This is only possible if your PSP is compatible to the 6.20 / 6.39 / 6.60 PRO CFW version and only if you installed the optional CIPL Flasher.
All other PRO revisions need to be QuickStarted manually by executing the FastRecovery application.
Once executed, PRO CFW will remain active until you shutdown your PSP system.
Summed up, if you restart your PSP, it will be back in OFW mode and behave just like every other normal PSP until you QuickStart it back into CFW mode.

How to identify a FAKE Memory Stick Pro Duo with a PSP system
Be very careful buying Memory Sticks of any kind on eBay or Amazon third party sellers.
Most of the eBay ones are FAKE. ALL of them from dealextreme.com are FAKES
They are packaged exactly the same, look the same and even work fine in some cases.
So who cares if it is fake?
You will when your data gets corrupted or the stick just plain dies.
Here is how you can tell for sure if you have a PSP and are testing a Memory Stick Pro Duo
SUPPORTED = GENUINE
UNKNOWN = FAKE
Under GAME - Memory Stick
Press TRIANGLE to see the MENU
Then Select INFORMATION

Press the triangle button. You should see something like this:
Press the 'X' button. You should see something like this:
Look at where it says 'MagicGate' in the picture above. Next to it will either say 'Supported' or 'Unknown.' If it says 'Supported,' your memory stick is probably genuine, but if it says 'Unknown,' your memory stick is probably a fake .
TEST #2: Format your memory stick with FakeCard_v1.5. If it formats in seconds, your memory stick is probably genuine, but if it takes minutes instead, you can bet that your memory stick is probably a fake.
TEST #3: What ever size memory stick it is, try copying that amount of data to the memory stick, then read it back. For example, if it's a 4GB memory stick, copy 4GB worth of data to the memory stick, then copy the data from the memory stick back to your PC. If it errors when either copying to or from the memory stick then it is most definitely a fake.

Setup your PSP to play online
Requirements
- PSP. Note: PSP 1000 (aka FAT) isn't compatible at the moment. You'll need a PSP 2000, 3000 or Go. Street hasn't got WiFi so it will be never compatible.
- CFW PRO 6.XX C installed on your PSP. No matter 6.20, 6.39 or 6.60.
- PRO Online Client Pack: depending on what firmware you are on, download the matching one for: 6.20; 6.39; or 6.60.
How to install the PRO Online Client - PSP Operation
- Turn on your Psp, and if you have a Volatile CFW, start FastRecovery to enter CFW PRO.
Press Select to enter VSH and go to RECOVERY MENU.
Now enter the Advanced submenu. Here you've got to enable the last option ( Unlock Memory in PSP Games) and be sure to disable Inferno & NP9660 Iso Cache, just like in the image below.
When you're done, press Back and in Recovery Main Menu press Back again to go back to the Psp Menu.
Almost finished.. The last thing you need to setup properly is the Network. You have two choice now:
- enable UPNP on your Router (the easier and reccomended way) OR
- set your PSP as your routers DMZ (for some member this could be the more difficult approach, however in my case my router is an Airport Extreme- thus it was very simple.)
Now everything is set up. To play Online you'll have to start an Ad Hoc Match with a Compatible Game or try new games that could work and haven't been tested yet.
FAQ - PLEASE READ IT BEFORE ASKING!
- Q: My HOME/PS button doesn't work properly!
A: The Unlock Memory in PSP Games function steals extra-RAM that was previously in use by the PSP System itself. Without that memory the home menu doesn't work properly. From v 0.03 problem fixed: pressing the home button now brings you back to the VSH(booting fastrecovery)! - Q: Ok, i can play Online and i want to switch off when i'm playing with another human. Are there problem doing so?
A: It's highly reccomended to not kill your PSP when you're playing a match online. This will result in a Psp Freeze for you and the other player (not a very big problem but it's annoying).
Always try to exit the online game in the way it was ment to be done. For God Eater Burst, as an example, use one of the Terminals and decide to start a new Multiplayer Game. This will take you back to the Start-Screen. - Q: My Game freezes right at the start of the online match.. What's wrong?
Your router probably doesn't support UPNP or has UPNP disabled..
Enable UPNP on your router or, set your PSP as your routers DMZ and remove the pspnet_miniupnc.prx file from your /kd Subfolder. - Q: I've done everything but it doesn't work..Why?A: PRO Online is in it's early beta-status and it's full of bugs that need killing and other problems. It could be you are trying to play one of the many currently unsupported titles or your distance to the router is too big.
Our tests have shown that the router <-> psp distance is a important factor in gameplay.. if the distance is too big unexpected problems can occur.

This is simple. A huge picture of how the folders should be organized on your MS (Memory Stick). You can just format your MS, and it will automatically create most of these folders, but for those of you who already have things in there and are too lazy to do back up things, this is for you. This could also be for informational purposes.
The MP_ROOT and DCIM are no longer necessary to have. Keep in mind that some applications you download may create the MP_ROOT directory on your PSP. So if you ever find it on there, it probably belongs there.
There is a very simple easy way to do this, but it involves formatting your Memory Stick. That means it erases everything you have saved. It automatically creates all the folders found in OFW in the Memory Stick. So if you don't mind either backing up your data or losing it, then just do this:
In the XMB (PSP main menu), go to the 'Settings' icon all the way to the left.
Go down to 'System Settings', and press 'X'.
Go down to 'Format Memory Stick' and press 'X'.
It will prompt you if you want to continue formating, just choose 'Yes', and now all you have to do is wait.
Done.
Read towards the end, where I will provide a brief explanation of each folder.

ex: WTF is 'ms0'!?!?
Where 'ms0' is the drive letter for your PSP. This is called the root of your Memory Stick.
ex: Directories!?!?
Ok, now lets get started.
The folders names are in bold.
MP_ROOT and DCIM folder will not be included.
The 'PSP' folder will have its own 'row'.
For people without Custom Firmware (CFW), I have highlighted the directories that are normally on Official Firmware (OFW) in Sea Green.
MP_ROOT and DCIM folder will not be included.
The 'PSP' folder will have its own 'row'.
For people without Custom Firmware (CFW), I have highlighted the directories that are normally on Official Firmware (OFW) in Sea Green.
Starting with the top row:
ms0:ISO - Put your UMD Game rips here. They MUST be in .iso or .cso file format.
ms0:MUSIC - This is where you obviously place music files. File formats supported are .mp3 and .wav. *.wav playback must be activated.
ms0:PICTURE - This is where you place your images. File formats supported are .jpg/jpeg and .bmp. (I believe thats it.)
ms0:PSP - Contains folders that the PSP saves data in. Saves, cookies from the browser, etc. More info on that later.
ms0:VIDEO - This is where you place you videos. The PSP only reads .mp4 files at some specific video resolutions. Some are 320x240 and 368x208.
ms0:seplugins - This folder will contain plugins for your PSP. Not required to have unless, of course, you have plugins. Some popular plugins are cxmb (Custom XMB) and CWCheat.
Second row:
(Hopefully you recognize subfolder directories.)
ms0:ISOVIDEO - This is where UMD Movies/Videos go. They MUST be in .iso format.
ms0:MUSIC*foldername* - This folder can be named anything. Its a one of the few 'good' features to organize your music. If you like organizing by albums or artist or even type of music this could benefit to you. You can have as many folders in the MUSIC folder as you like. The PSP cannot shuffle music from 2 different folders.
ms0:PICTURE*foldername* - Like the Music subfolders, this is similar. Just name the folder anything you like. Useful to, again, 'organize' things in your PSP.
ms0:VIDEO*foldername* - Same thing as the PICTURE subfolder. Used to 'organize' things in your PSP.
Third Row. (PSP folder directory.)
ms0:PSPGAMEXXX - This folder is related to the firmware on your PSP. If you are on 3.xx firmware then this folder will show up as 'GAME3XX', 5.xx will show up as 'GAME5XX', and so on. It is rarely used.
ms0:PSPGAME150 - This folder is mainly used by Slim PSP owners who want to use homebrew 'exclusive' to the PSP Phat. It may or may not work depending on the homebrew. *Homebrew will not be explained in this guide.
ms0:PSPCOMMON - This is usually where unknown/unsupported file formats downloaded from the PSP web browser are saved.
ms0:PSPGAME - This folder is where all applications/homebrew, demos, and updates belong. They each have to have their own separate folder. Explained further down.
ms0:PSPMUSIC - Same as the MUSIC folder located in the root of the Memory Stick.
ms0:PSPPHOTO - Same as the PICTURE folder located in the root of the Memory Stick.
ms0:PSPSAVEDATA - This is where all your game saves are stored. If they are deleted, then there goes your data. Replacing saves does no harm. Just make sure you back it up before you do.
ms0:PSPSYSTEM - This folder contains data from features like Skype and RSS.
The last row.
ms0:PSPGAME/UPDATE - This is where your general firmware updates go.
ms0:PSPMUSIC*foldername* - Same as MUSIC/*foldername*.
ms0:PSPPHOTO*foldername* - Same as PICTURE/*foldername*.
ms0:PSPSYSTEMBROWSER - This is where the PSP stores browsing histroy, favorites, etc.
ms0:PSPSYSTEMRRSCH - This is where the PSP stores your RSS channels.
ms0:PSPSYSTEMRSSCHCHANNELS - Your RSS channels.
Extra stuff not see in the image.
ms0:PSPTHEME - This is where you put your .ptf themes. If you have the cxmb plugin, then this is where you put your .ctf themes.
ms0:PSPLICENSE - This is where the PSP saves licenses from things you bought from the PSN store. You cannot, I repeat, YOU CANNOT use things you bought on one PSP on another. Not even if you copy the license folder to the other PSP. Flashing your firmware will also render your bought games from PSN un-playable as the system will recognize it as a new, different PSP.
ms0:PSPGAMERECOVERY - This is where a recovery folder goes in case your PSP ever bricks and you still have access to the Recovery Menu.
